I was talking to another mom the other day and what she said has been rattling around in my head.
‘I am two me’s. The one I want to be and the one that I am.’
In my head I added in that the one that I am is a product of my habits and choices. And then the Salvador Dali quote: ‘Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it.’ seems appropriate for the one I want to be.
I want to be perfect.
I want to produce the best book I can.
I want to do every step correctly through out the life cycle of said book.
On the flip side, it’s seems silly to waste my time on things my audience may not even notice or on things that don’t matter. Especially if it prevents me from finishing the book.
But I worry about quality. (i.e. do I know what those things are?)
By seeking to understand myself, I have a better shot at aligning the two me’s and finding that middle ground which is close enough to perfect as I can be.
What are your two mes like?
